Taonga For Our Times

Our Kaupapa

E ngā uri whakatupu, whakarongo

Kia kaha, hapainga ake rā ngā mahi huatau

A ngā tupuna i waiho ake nei

Hei painga mo te iwi o Aotearoa e

From a waiata composed by our kuia Rangimarie Hetet (1892-1995)urging her mokopuna to uphold the traditional arts left by our ancestors, for the good of the people of Aotearoa.

Our Moemoea

That every whānau Māori has the traditional arts of our people within their whare; and the mātauranga to create and pass on these traditions to their tamariki and mokopuna.

To this end we are committed to providing teaching excellence in the arts of raranga, taaniko and whatu kākahu through our online kura: the Hetet School of Māori Art

Books & Films

As a whānau of artists we are dedicated to the practise and teaching of our traditional art forms including the writing of books and production of films that support this kaupapa. Check out our shop or view our film festival documentaries available to rent here
